Jolly Server Installation Instructions

Built on Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Jolly Server provides enterprise level performance and reliability. Jolly Server is required for network installations of Jolly desktop products such as Lobbytrack, Eventleaf Desktop, Asset Track and ID Flow. This document explains how to install and configure Jolly Server and optionally migrate your data from a Jolly Internal Server (JLT file) to a Jolly Server.

Installation

Installation Method One: Standard Jolly Server Installation (RECOMMENDED)

  1. Select the workstation or sever where Jolly Server will be installed. It should be always accessible to the workstations that will be running Jolly desktop software and must meet the the following system requirements:

    Supported Operating Systems: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista, Windows XP
    32-bit Systems: Computer with Intel or compatible 1GHz or faster processor (2 GHz or faster is recommended)
    64-bit Systems: 1.4 GHz or faster processor
    RAM: Minimum of 512 MB (2 GB or more is recommended)
    Free Hard Disk Space: 2.2 GB

  2. Log in to the workstation as an Administrator.

  3. If you are using a recent version of Windows such as Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Vista, skip this step and continue to Step 4.

    If you are installing Jolly Server on a Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 workstation, you must install the following per-requisites if they are not already installed. Click the links below to download and install. If told to restart your workstation, do so. When you are done, continue to Step 4.

  4. If you have the Jolly installation CD, insert it in your the disk drive. If you do not have the installation CD, you may download the Jolly Server installer (JollyServer6Setup.exe) from the link in your order confirmation e-mail.

  5. Launch JollyServer6Setup.exe by double-clicking on it.

  6. The installer will install Microsoft SQL Server 2012, this may take several minutes.

  7. When the installation completes, the Jolly Server installer will start.

  8. Proceed through the dialogs and do not change any of the information in the Database Server dialog.

  9. Once the installer has completed, click Finish to close the installer.

  10. Congratulations, Jolly Server is now installed! Continue to Post-Installation Tasks.

 

Installation Method Two: Custom Jolly Server Installation (ADVANCED)

Use this approach if you already have Microsoft SQL Server 2012 installed and would like to install Jolly Server to this existing instance.

  1. Log in to the workstation as an Administrator. Note that this workstation must be accessible to each client PC that will run Jolly desktop software.

  2. Contact Jolly to obtain a download link for the custom installer .

  3. Launch the installer by double-clicking on it.

  4. Proceed through the dialogs, until you reach the Database Server dialog.

  5. In the Database Server box, enter the local server name and the instance name if it is not the default, for example: (local)

  6. Select the connection method to use to connect to the database and the Login ID and Password if using server authentication.

  7. Click Next.

  8. The installer will then create a new Jolly Server database.

  9. Congratulations, Jolly Server is now installed! Continue to Post-Installation Tasks.

 

Post-Installation Tasks

Configure Jolly Desktop Software to Connect to Jolly Server

  1. Start the Jolly desktop software.

  2. You will be shown a dialog titled Jolly Server. If the software is configured to use an Internal Jolly Server, you will see Connect to: Internal [default].

  3. Click the Configure button.

  4. Select the Connect to Jolly Server option.

  5. If you installed the standard Jolly Server installer as described in Method One above, set the Connection Type to Standard Jolly Server Connection and click the Server Address drop down list. A list of Jolly Server's detected on the network will be displayed. Select the server you'd like to use.

    If you installed Jolly Server using Method Two above, set the Connection Type to Custom Jolly Server Connection and click Configure to configure the connection to the database. You may also need to set the Login and Password.

  6. Click Ok to save the settings and continue with starting the software.

  7. Congratulations, you are now connected to the Jolly Server!
