About the City of Saskatoon
Located in western Canada, the city of Saskatoon is a Saskatchewan's largest city. The public works department is responsible for several tasks including roadway maintenance. With approximately 250 staff members and a seasonal staff of 15 to 20 new people each year, they serve a population of more than 205,900 residents.
Challenge
As part of an ongoing effort to make the public works department as secure a workplace as possible, the Public Works Department was seeking an photo ID badge solution would allow the department to produce secure ID badges in as cost-effective manner as possible. The department had already invested in hardware for other purposes and was hoping to find a solution that could utilize it.
Solution
In Print Studio, the Public Works Department found exactly what they were looking for. Unique features of Print Studio such as the ability to connect to their existing employee database saved the city from having to re-enter employee data for ID cards and allowed them to get up and running immediately.
The ability of Print Studio to work with virtually any hardware was also a huge cost-savings benefit. Rather than having to replace their existing hardware, they were able to print professional badges using their existing Hewlett Packard inkjet printer.
Public Works Department employees are now easily identified by their photo ID badges created with Print Studio 2.0.
Benefits
- Substantial cost savings by utilizing the existing hardware
- Ability to import employee data from existing HR database
- Intuitive interface makes printing single or multiple badges easy
- Extensive barcode capabilities
In Summary
"The software was easily installed and after one run through the tutorial we were up and running. Printing the badges is intuitive and we have no trouble switching from single to multiple badges. We have used the program since 2003," says Mr.
